David Shrigley (You must stay), 2007 — installation On View

You must stay, 2007

David Shrigley

Created by David Shrigley in collaboration with Third Drawer Down, You Must Stay transforms a functional floor rug into a quietly persuasive textual intervention - rendered in a striking pink and yellow cotton-polyester blend. Within the context of Petit Loovre, the phrase acquires a site-specific ambiguity, equally suggestive of artistic contemplation, social hospitality, and the occasionally unavoidable realities of the room itself.

Alberto Venzago On View

Untitled

Alberto Venzago

This selected work by Alberto Venzago exemplifies the artist’s ability to move effortlessly between documentary immediacy and carefully constructed visual theatre. Characterized by cinematic composition and emotional ambiguity, the photograph reflects Venzago’s long-standing exploration of staged reality, intimacy, and observation. Within the spatial constraints of Petit Loovre, the work acquires an additional intensity, confronting viewers at unusually close range.

Jysk Frame On View

Untitled

Unknown

This untitled portrait study employs a reduced visual language to explore presence, silhouette, and compositional balance through bold planes of color and minimal line work. The contrast between the saturated blue headwrap and the muted earth tones creates a calm but deliberate visual rhythm, while the floral element introduces a subtle ornamental tension. Presented within the intimate setting of Petit Loovre, the work resonates with the gallery’s ongoing interest in domestic display, overlooked imagery, and accidental curation.

The Institution

About the Institution

"Petit Loovre explores the fragile boundary between domestic routine and institutional grandeur."

Founded in the mid '20s, Petit Loovre occupies a unique position within the contemporary art landscape, specifically, a position of approximately 4.2 square metres.

The institution operates under the belief that art need not be large to be significant, nor must a gallery possess multiple rooms to possess genuine cultural authority.

Our curatorial programme is driven by a commitment to works that reward sustained attention. We do not publish a catalogue. We do not accept artist applications. We have, however, accepted three unsolicited submissions, all from the same individual, all rejected on aesthetic grounds.
